Born in Zaragoza, Spain, in 1988, Alejandro Monge lives and works in his hometown. He studied Fine Arts and Design at the Zaragoza School of Art, specializing in sculpture. Although sculpture lies at the foundation of his practice, Monge has developed a multidisciplinary body of work that moves between painting, sculpture, and large-scale installation. His career has been shaped by continuous technical experimentation and a sustained interest in the social, economic, and environmental challenges of the present.

Monge’s work is defined by an extraordinary command of realist representation and a desire to challenge the viewer’s perception. His early large-format oil paintings explored the boundaries between painting and photography, while his subsequent sculptural practice extended this investigation into three-dimensional space. Working with materials such as cement, resin, fiberglass, steel, marble, paper, and aluminium, he creates technically complex works through processes that are often developed specifically for each project.

The future is a recurring concern throughout his practice. His widely recognized installations featuring meticulously reproduced, accumulated, and apparently burned banknotes examine the power of money, consumerism, and contemporary systems of value. More recently, his work has turned toward the increasingly fractured relationship between humanity, technology, and the natural world. Through ambiguous figures and speculative environments, Monge imagines a future in which the boundaries between the biological and the artificial become progressively unstable.

His work has been exhibited internationally across Europe, the United States, Asia, and the Middle East. Recent institutional projects include exhibitions at Fundació Vila Casas, Fundación María Cristina Masaveu Peterson, and IAACC Pablo Serrano, as well as a residency at Residency Unlimited in New York. In 2026, he presented “Synthetic Future”, his first solo exhibition at LA BIBI Gallery.
