Hidden Track #01 – Ángel Molina

The first activation of “Hidden Track” takes place on 4 September, coinciding with the finissage of “Synthetic Future”, Alejandro Monge’s solo exhibition at LA BIBI Gallery.

For this inaugural edition, Ángel Molina will present a sound session conceived specifically in dialogue with the exhibition. The intervention will act as a temporary soundtrack to “Synthetic Future”: an acoustic layer accompanying the works, the space, and the movement of visitors during the exhibition’s final hours.

Moving away from the conventional club format and drawing on abstract, ambient, and drone textures, the session will become an integral part of the exhibition without demanding a fixed or frontal mode of listening. Visitors will be invited to move freely through the gallery as sound enters into dialogue with the artworks, the architecture, and the conversations unfolding around them. Conceived as a form of sonic sculpture, the intervention introduces a new perceptual dimension to the exhibition during its finissage.

Ángel Molina is a DJ and producer widely regarded as one of the leading figures in electronic and experimental music in Spain. Active professionally since 1991, he performed at the inaugural edition of Sónar in 1994, beginning a close relationship with the festival that has continued for three decades. In 2023, he was invited to close its 30th-anniversary edition.

Throughout his career, Molina has performed at numerous clubs and festivals in Spain and internationally, including Berghain. His distinctive language is defined by experimentation, nonconformity, and an open-ended approach to electronic culture. Although techno remains one of his central territories, his sessions also move through ambient, drone, and other forms that extend beyond the conventional structures of the dance floor. He is currently A&R at 30D Records.

With this first activation, “Hidden Track” begins to operate as the secondary frequency evoked by its name: something that may not appear on the main track, yet accompanies, shifts, and expands the experience of an exhibition.
