Contemporary Relics

Myths never truly disappear. They transcend civilizations, shifting shape over time to become beliefs, rituals, symbols, and narratives that continue to inhabit our collective imagination. The artists brought together in this exhibition approach these invisible traces as archaeologists of the intangible, uncovering the remnants of a sacred dimension that still resonates within the contemporary world.

Through painting, sculpture, and drawing, their works construct an iconography in which human figures, animals, objects, and landscapes emerge as witnesses to an ancestral memory. Each image seems to preserve a fragment of legend, a forgotten ritual, an enigmatic presence, or the vestige of an ancient belief. Without illustrating any particular religion or mythology, the works evoke a universal spirituality shaped by transformation, symbolism, and intuition.

The exhibition unfolds as an imaginary excavation across six interconnected chapters: Inhabiting the World, Presences, Inner Landscapes, Metamorphoses, The Uncanny Familiar, and Re-enchanting Reality. Together, they invite us to reflect on our enduring need to believe, remember, and seek meaning in the forms that surround us.

Moving beyond geographical and cultural boundaries, these artists compose a contemporary mythology in which the visible enters into dialogue with the invisible, the ordinary becomes ritual, and the artwork assumes the status of a relic—an object imbued with memory, mystery, and possibility.

Contemporary Relics invites visitors to journey through a territory where archaeology meets imagination, and where vestiges of the past encounter the narratives of the present. For even if the gods have fallen silent, their symbols continue to speak.
