INFLATION 

Inflation 📈 explores the cultural phenomenon of the inflated body and its impact on our perception of beauty and consumer value along three axes: bimbos, bodybuilders, and pregnant women—using myself as a vehicle to try to hack AI and the amateur aesthetics of DeviantArt.

The comparison between capitalist inflation and bodily inflation is striking. Inflation, the economic phenomenon of rising prices and currency devaluation, is often the result of unchecked growth and speculation. Similarly, bodily inflation—the cultural obsession with transforming the body to fit a particular ideal—is fueled by relentless beauty standards and consumerist pressures.

Subcultural trends emerge through the lens of desire, such as the controversial phenomenon of bimbofication, which promotes exaggerated and hypersexualised feminine traits as an aspirational ideal. Others manifest with a darker twist in online fan art aimed at fetishistic pornography, engaging with themes like hypertrophied pregnancies, extreme bodybuilding, gigantism, or body transformation illusions.

The exhibition also includes conceptual works incorporating energy drink cans and inner tube trainers, which highlight the pressure exerted by a culture of efficiency and overconsumption in its constant pursuit of perfection and success.
