Miquel Ponce (Valencia, 1997) holds a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and a Master’s degree in Artistic Production from the Universitat Politècnica de València. He also completed an Erasmus scholarship at Technological University Dublin. His projects have been exhibited in institutions such as the Museum of the University of Alicante, Casa de Velázquez in Madrid, the Reales Atarazanas, and the MuVIM in Valencia. He has collaborated with galleries including We Collect (Madrid), Volta Art Gallery (Valencia), and Berlin Gallery (Seville). Ponce has participated in various artist residencies, among them the Artistic Creation and Research Residency at MUA, Alicante (2020), and the Artistic Production Grant from the BilbaoArte Foundation (2021). His work has been recognized with several awards and grants, including the VEGAP Creation Grant (2021). He was a finalist in PAM!PAM!21 (2022) and has taken part in projects such as Mostra Art Públic / Universitat Pública (2022) and TEST (2024).

Miquel Ponce’s artistic practice is rooted in painting. His work approaches painting as residue, as trace, as mark—revealing signs of wear, manipulation, and the passing of time. Elements such as chance and material deterioration are central to his process, prompting a reflection on image production and the crisis of visuality while seeking new possibilities for pictorial language. His works invite a tactile encounter with painting, questioning representation through the physicality of materials and engaging in a formal play with their constructive nature. In Ponce’s practice, the abstract image emerges as the residual imprint of the creative act itself—where the processes of making transform painting into a remnant that speaks both of its time and of its own condition.
