Abel Jaramillo

Biography

Abel Jaramillo (b. 1993, Badajoz) holds a degree in Fine Arts from the Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha (Spain) and the Universidade de Lisboa (Portugal). He completed a Master’s degree in Contemporary, Technological and Performance Art at the Universidad del País Vasco (Spain).

His work explores the cracks and margins of history, engaging with the narratives and poetics rooted in specific contexts and the political tensions embedded in everyday life. Jaramillo’s practice focuses on the frictions and dissensions that emerge when events, actions, and images are brought into dialogue—revealing historical relationships, current conflicts, and possible future scenarios.

Through hybrid processes that combine installation, moving image, and writing, he investigates how history is constructed from below, how fictions are produced from historical events, and how narratives intertwine with territories, margins, and peripheries.
